Recent innovations in the foodservice industry, like online booking and food delivery have made consumers' lives more convenient than ever. However, progress from a consumer perspective stands in stark contrast to what’s beneath the hood - the depressing state of professional kitchens. The $3.4tn industry, already previously grappling with record closures and mental health problems amongst employees is now hitting rock bottom as a result of the pandemic.

Enter Jelly

Our founder JJ regularly spent the summers of his teenage years working in kitchens. After finding himself back there once more a decade later, he was shocked to find out how little the industry had changed. Who would have thought quitting a career in banking to become a chef would be the the start of a journey to transform this industry through tech.

 

Jelly was founded 3 years ago to fundamentally transform the foodservice industry from the ground up - yes you guessed it - chefs in kitchens. Whilst bootstrapping in stealth, our app was adopted by 70+ foodservice sites, ranging from Michelin-starred restaurants to school canteens, from the UK to the US.
 

Since raising £2m in venture funding from Tier 1 VCs, including those that put the first money into Revolut, Transferwise and Just Eat, our team has grown 5x in the past 4 months and number of users doubled YTD. We're headquartered in London but our ambition is to scale globally, fast.

At a time when the global foodservice industry must undergo the biggest technological transformation in its history, we are a well-funded, early stage company with great traction, talent and timing to shape its future.

Your Opportunity

IThis is a leadership position with ownership over Jelly’s commercial organisation working across Sales, Account management and Marketing. You will work directly with the CEO, Product Lead and Tech Lead to scale the business to a quadruple-digit number of active sites over the next 12 months. Additionally, as the business scales, you have the opportunity to build a world-class growth team from the ground up.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and build a high performing team, focusing on their performance and development

  • Setting incentives, KPIs and targets across sales channels

  • Develop sales infrastructure, analytical tools and resources for the team

  • Define and lead our sales, account management and marketing strategies that drives new user adoption and scales existing user value-add

  • Own Jelly’s go to market strategies for territories in UK and internationally

  • Build up Jelly’s image and reputation as a market leader

  • Bring a culture of data-driven experimentation

  • Build solid relationships with all types of personalities in the industry

Requirements

  • Track record of SMB SaaS success and history of exceeding targets

  • Demonstrable experience of building and scaling successful team within a growing startup

  • Structured and analytical, experience in data analysis and performance/sales metrics

  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

  • Understand how marketing can accelerate sales performance

  • Keen to get hands dirty

  • Experience in high volume short sales-cycle SMB SaaS is a bonus

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the restaurant industry is a bonus

  • Knowledge and/or experience with hospitality software is a bonus

  • Strong digital marketing experience is a bonus

  • Building a product from scratch (discovery, iterations technique) is a bonus
